Blockchain, AI, and machine learning developments are simplifying processes ranging from inventory control to the logistics of delivery, in line with customers' increasing desire for prompt and dependable service. This trend was further pushed by the COVID-19 pandemic, as more people began shopping for groceries online as a practical and secure substitute during lockdown. 

Currently, the size of the global online meal delivery market was assessed at USD 288.84 billion in 2024 and is expected to increase at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.4% from 2025 to 2030, reaching USD 505.50 billion. Blinkit reported INR 1,156 crore in revenue for the second quarter of FY25, more than tripling the INR 505 crore it made during the same period the previous year. Its adjusted EBITDA loss, however, went from INR 3 crore in the June quarter to INR 8 crore. Furthermore, Blinkit's gross order value (GOV) increased to INR 6,132 crore, a 122% year-over-year increase.
